The company emphasized that the incident relates to a past installation and highlighted the risks associated with partial solar installations, where system components such as batteries and inverters are sourced independently and installed without full system integration, testing, or unified responsibility.
Solar Installation Fire – Official Incident Report
A closer look at the incident, key safety lessons, and why complete solar system installations and certified protection standards are critical for preventing electrical fires and equipment failure.
Royeno Solar Tech's Official Response
Royeno Solar Tech acknowledged the video of a burning solar installation that occurred in October of last year. They clarified that their involvement was limited to supplying the solar panels and some accessories only. The client sourced the critical components—the inverter and batteries—independently.
A technical team visited the site on October 11, 2025. The incident is currently under joint investigation by Royeno management and Dyness SA to determine the root technical cause of the failure.
Critical Safety Analysis
This incident highlights the dangers of "Partial Installations" where components from different suppliers are mixed without unified technical oversight.
When a client buys panels from one source and a battery/inverter from another, there is a risk of mismatch. Modern Lithium batteries (like Dyness) require precise communication cables and protocol settings to talk to the inverter. If these are mismatched, the battery can overcharge or overheat.
Fires often start at connection points. A robust Combiner Box with DC breakers, fuses, and surge protection is non-negotiable. In DIY or mixed-source jobs, these safety features are often skipped to save costs, leaving the system vulnerable to surges and shorts.
Why "Patchwork" Solar is Dangerous
As seen in this case, when something goes wrong, it becomes difficult to establish liability. Is it the panel supplier? The battery manufacturer? Or the installer? A single-supplier turnkey solution ensures one company is 100% accountable for your safety.
Lithium batteries are safe when managed by a BMS (Battery Management System). However, if an incompatible inverter forces charge into a full battery due to communication failure, thermal runaway can occur, leading to intense, hard-to-extinguish fires.
How to Ensure Your Safety
Always purchase your Inverter, Battery, and Panels as a complete, matched package from a single reputable installer. This ensures all components are certified to work together.
Ensure your installer uses proper trunking, distinct DC/AC separation, and mandatory DC Breakers between the panels and the inverter, and between the battery and the inverter.
